how we got here
I am originally from The Bahamas. Art, dance, and music have always been a consistent part of my life. Per my mother’s account, I started drawing before I could write. She enrolled me in ballet classes and piano lessons at three years old, which included recital performances and exams.
I began training in more dance genres and began taking art seriously during the equivalent of American middle school. During the latter part of high school, I was asked to help out on our school’s production of West Side Story. After this, I was asked to be an Assistant Stage Manager on The Tempest. Since then, I knew I would want a career in theatre, both dance and stage management.
Amidst the pandemic and theatre closure, I ventured back into painting and temporarily did portraits for clients in The Bahamas, awaiting my return to the United States.
I am getting a BFA in Production Design with a concentration in Set Design and Art Direction at SCAD. While studying, I have had the privilege of having a trial run of my professional career. I have been on the stage management team and in other departments of both SCAD and student live theatre productions, and I have been training and performing with Savannah Ballet part-time as an apprentice.
Due to my love of learning and fascination with all aspects of projects I have collaborated on and the nature of the courses in my studies, I have also developed various skills such as video editing, prop design and fabrication, social strategy and have stepped into the film world in various roles.
